I am writing a console application that needs to syncronize the membership information of two databases. One of the databases is using the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider membership provider and the other is using a custom membership provider. The custom membership provider is from a legacy system that unfortunately can't be changed.
In the database with the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider membership provider the passwordFormat=Encrypted and the encryption is 3DES. The passwords are also salted with an encrypted value.
I need to find a way to reverse the encryption of the password in order to sync it back to the other database. This must be possible since the password retrieval function works fine. Also, I need to find a way to encrypt in a way that the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider membership provider will understand when the other database has the password changed. Any ideas?
