Required Field Validator - A small doubt

hello all
I have very small issue..
I have a
Search for a employer label....A textbox with Required field validator
I have Search button and cancel button..


If I click on Search button..It has to search for employer..If I click on Cancel button, it has to redirect to previous page.
 I wrote response.redirect for cancel button but it is asking for Required field validator.
So what I have to do?
