I am new to ASP.NET and C#. On my web application I am trying to do a try catch block to catch any errors thrown and if it thrown I am recording to a event log. Now I am concerned about only the Date of Birth field in my application because it should follow dd-mmm-yyyy (20-Apr-2011) format. This data is coming from an external database from another department and we have no control over it.
My opinion is to capture the exception and allow the rest of the data to be imported to the local database but ask user to correct the date of birth or send a change request to the database administrator. Do you think it is a good idea. Can anyone please suggest what should I do if the date of birth format is different then the above and I still need to varify customer details and complete the rest of the customer identification process.
And also How can I execute the rest of the code after catching exception as I know from my limited knowledge on C# ...
