In February 2012 I installed SQLserver 2012 express (64-bit) on Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) on a Laptop and have been using it sucesfully since then.  However, Windows update has been trying to install KB2716442 since 11OCT2012 and failed each time with the error code 84B20001.
I have decompressed the original installation kit (SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe, product version 11.0.2.2100.60) and run "setup.exe /action=repair" but this resulted in an error: "There was a failure to calculate the applicability of setting PID.".  However, I needed to do something else at the time and, when I tried to re-run the command later, there was a "quick flash" of the screen and then a small window with a red-cross in it.
What should my next steps be?
