I have large amount of data that needs to be displayed in a paging style and have to make it searchable/sortable through all the displayed data. Approximately 400 users will be using this web application. What is best way to approach this problem? I have two ideas but I don't think both are good enough so I'm really looking for any good suggestions. One idea is to query the database on demand and get the requested result set, however with 400 users this seems out of the question because network load will be heavy. My other idea was to load the data into an XML file and then use LINQ to XML to perform the queries. However, these xml files are heavy(500MB or higher) so loading into XDocument is taking over an minute. Can anyone suggest a feasable solution please?
