Is this the right way to publish a web?

I have create a web using .NET 2005.

what I did is transfer the entire folder to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\

Then create a virtual directory in IIS. Actually i can view it outside.
I just want to know if this is the right way to do it?

Or is there a method that will compile the entire website just like in creating win apps.
