Sending Email - system.net.mail - gmail

Hello,
I am using the code found at http://forums.asp.net/t/971802.aspx?PageIndex=1 to send email, however, I get operation timed out.
I am attempting to send using Gmail which requires SSL.  I modified the code slightly to set enablessl = true, but still getting a time out.
My web.config is

      <mailSettings>
        <smtp from="travis@bluelinenetworks.net">
          <network host="smtp.gmail.com" port="465" userName="user@domain.com" password="mypass"/>
        </smtp>
      </mailSettings>
    </system.net>


I am trying to test this with the code just in a on_click for a command button.
