Please forgive me if I'm asking a noob question here but I'm more comfortable writing WinForms apps...
I have created a web service that has GetData and ServiceStatus web methods. Visual Studio 2008 has kindly created asynchronous versions of both for me and I'm happy calling and handling the results.
My GetData method performs a large amount of data processing that can take some time. I launch this in it's own thread to free things up but I also use the thread as an indicator that processing is already underway. I've included my code below.
The problem I have is that my ServiceStatus always returns "Idle" even when I know it isn't (but the member variables show that it is).
Could this be caused by mixing and matching asynchronous and synchronous service calls or have I missed something obvious?
