Is forms authentication without connection strings possible?

So I have a handle on doing forms authentication using MembershipProviders against multiple domains. However, I've been asked if there is a method that does not require us to configure seperate connection strings for each domain we want to authenticate against. Essentially, we want to authenticate against any domain the server our application is running off of has been configured to trust.
Any pointers?
