File Watcher

Hi

 

There is one requirement where I am supposed to update a table in the sql database based on a job status that would be executed by a mainframe application. 

 

We are planning to have the mainframe application to create a text file and to upload to some location. We will then create a windows service with file watcher, that will "watch" this folder for any change/deletion. Is this a best way?

 

Instead of watching for a file, is there any other way to implement this?
