I have an asp.net website on a dedicated server.  I have a shared folder on another server that is a domain controller and file server.  The web server is not on the domain and can't be due to our organizational structure.  Yet, I need to be able to access files in a share on that file server.

How can I accomplish this?  Since the web server is not on the domain, the file server has no knowledge of the local users on the web server and thus can't directly be given access rights to the share.

My initial thought was that I would have to promote the web server to its own domain controller and setup a trust between the two so that the anonymous asp.net user could be given access to the share.  Is there another way to do this?  I'm not the best with microsoft security so there is probably better alternatives that I'm not aware of.

Thank you for your assistance.
