Remember me issue (out-of-the-box ?)

Hi all!

This remember me option is pretty tricky, as it seems...I am quite confused whether it is really an out-of-the-box feature. My Login control is using a Layout Template, in which I've added a RememberMe checkbox (following the naming convention as specified by MS, to make it work).

Well, either checking it or unchecking the option, if I close the browser and point again to Login.aspx page, it doesnt redirect me automatically to my default page, indicating that the remember me didnt have any effect over the automatic auth. Is it because I should have bookmarked the default.aspx, rather than the login.aspx page???

Furthermore, Ive seen several articles proposing the code below to force a cookie creation, if that has to be coded, I dont consider this Remember Me as an out-of-the-box feature:
