visual web developer 2010 express "the parameter is incorrect" error when trying to create a new table.

I am new to asp .net - comre from LAMP background.

Working in visual web developer 2010.
I create a new website project
App_Data->add new item -> SQL server Database -> Tables -> Add New Table

I then get the error message  "the parameter is incorrect".
Database says connection is open and when I test the connection is says it good.
