I've used the ASP.NET configuration tool many times in VS 2005 and 2008. You set the authentication mode, create some roles and some users. You then have an aspnetdb.mdf in your app_data folder and all the necessary xml in the web.config. Not so with VS2010 Standard trial. I select a single provider for all site management data then test AspNetSqlProvider and get the error: "Could not establish a connection to the database. If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider."
I ran aspnet_regsql fine. Oddly enough it creates an aspnetdb.mdf in the app_data folder (in the file system) but is not included in the solution and no provider information is added to the web.config.
I have SQLEXPRESS 2008 running fine
