TextArea Edit problem

I have a TextArea being redndered from an ASP.Textbox

The problem is  that when I go to edit this field (in particular, append data to the end).  The word editing exhibits this weird behavior where I can only type one word at a time press the space bar to start next word, and the last word typed jumps up to the line prior.  Almost like a justification behavior seen in Word.  It's irriatating...  Note the data is a bound column in the DB...
