On my site I have a search results page - we do all sorts of mapping / chopping up of the search strings to try and get better matches for our visitors. We sell some quite technical items and so they can be searched for in many ways.
What we want to do is run our general search, and if only a few results are returned we want to run through a further stage of more advanced code in the background to try and expand their matches - we have the code for this already.
However this process takes a little while so ideally we want the page to load with their intial results, and then a message saying something like "fetching further results" which will load into the same page a few seconds later.
What is the best way to try and achieve something like this?
FYI - site is still on .Net 2.0.
Thanks
