Hello,
I am working on an app that is being ported from:
ASP in VBScript for UI
C++ COM for BLL
ADO 2.8 and _conneced_ RecordSet objects for DAL
SQL 2005 for Data Storage
to:
ASP.NET 2.0 for UICOM Interop to connect to the C++/COM objects for BLL (and some pure .NET code where no COM existed in the past, using Ent Library)
ADO 2.8 under the COM objects like beforeSQL 2005 for Data Storage as beforeCOM and ADO Details
The COM objects talk directly to the ADO libraries. The business entities essentially are strongly-typed accessors to connected ADO RecordSet objects. That is, when you type obj.FirstName, the COM object reads a field value out of the wrapped RecordSet and returns you the string value. All the COM objects operate that way.
Problems
We ran into some problems due to keeping COM objects around too long, but ...

Go to the complete details ...
