I want to allow different groups of authorized users of my ASP.NET site to be able to download files only from their own direc tory on the website. These are external users (not within our intranet). Right now, authorized users from each site can download from one communal directory. If they can login to the site, they automatically can download from this one directory. I am looking for ideas on how I should go about doing this. Can I use the username that their siteID (stored in a SQL Server database) to determine which directory they can access. I have created a directory called FileTransfers with subdirectories for each site. Do I use a combination of ASP.NET code and windows security to make this work? I think I have all the code I need to do the download but need help with the security and how to code to check for siteID and direct to separate directory for each.
