I have a commercially-distributed VB 6 app that uses a SQL db. I used to use MSDE 2000 but am finding that users cannot install it on to Win 7 machines, expecially 64-bit.
I need to use a named instance and I must have the installation proceed without user input.
There are several articles online about installing SQL Server 2008 R2 Express and SQL Server 2012 Express from a command line. They are clear and easy to do.
However, they ALL require me to use setup.exe.
My problem is how do I find it?
The online files only install. They won't extract so I can get at the setup. My MSDN subscription yields an .iso but I can't get that to simply open (I use Virtual Clonedrive). It always runs.
This sounds like it should be easy but I'm stuck.
Thanks in advance!
