How can i manage the upload files path?

Hi All 

We are developing community web site. we have more then 2 laks members.

currently we are maintaining the members upload photos like images/<UserName><UserID>/  (images/Asin176506/).

I think considering performance wice this way is  not good.

So i am planning  to store the photos based on members registration year,gender and member language like "images/english/2008/<gender>/<UserName><UserID>"

the performance wice How can i maintain the upload photos?
