I have a project at work and really need a few pointers.
Problem Definition
Different applications (clients) send feeds to another application (PeopleSoft), via FTP. When those feeds are received by PeopleSoft, an entry is created in a SQL database for each one. As each feed is processed, the status is updated on the initial row created. Each client needs to know the processing status of the feed. The results are returned and written to another SQL database.Right now, as each feed is sent, the client polls the SQL database for a specified time to get the status. However, the polling time can expire before an updated status is received. Also, the clients are polling synchronously right now which means everything else has to wait during polling.
Requirements
Create a reusuable component that can be called either by a web page or a console application.
The component must accept parameters.
