i have been trying to restrict access to a web page for my website for quite some time, i have tried googling it and found a few ways, one which i tried was using just classis asp with a .inc file, however this did not work at all as you could still access the page without being authenticated.
i have looked through a few forums and read that you can restrict access in the web.config file? is this correct?
i have tried using the built in membership and roles and works great on local machine however i just want to create a simple authentication database/script to upload to live server, plus i have read that not all hosting providers allow using the built in asp.net configuration on their servers?????
is there another way of doing this?
