ASP.NET 2.0 website page populates a GridView with SQL or PI data and has an ExportToExcel button which scrapes the data off the GridView and passes it into a vbscript, which then opens/populates and automates client-Excel.
Users must have "Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" set to Enable in order to avoid "ActiveX component can't create object" error messagebox/show-stopper.
Does anyone know is there a way for the page to temporarily force-Enable this IE setting, and then afterwards return it to the original value?  Or is there some other way around this issue?  It doesn't seem like a good idea to just go ahead and leave this particular barn door open all the time...
Thanks for your help!
