How to make a page update itself after clicking a button

I'm trying to make my webapp's gridview/tables to be able to refresh and update itself after clicking an asp:button. One of the way is to loop back the page by using this method, response.redirect. However i'm trying to let the page refreshes itself after a certain amount of time, approximately after 3 seconds. I also added a ajax script manager to prevent the entire page from refreshing. When i clicked my button, it indeed update my database however my data in the website still remain the same. It only update after refreshing the page. Any advice would be appreciated. Regards
