I need to be able to persist data across multiple pages within a session

I'm developing a membership management system where users have varying degrees of access levels. Depending on the surrent user logged in, their will be pages (and controls within the pages) that may or may not be accessible to the user.
On any page load, I need to be able to check the status of the logged in user and then load the appropriate restrictions. How do I save the user related profile data and ensure it persists across all pages until the user logs out?
I'm pretty new to ASP.NET.
