Getting "; expected" error in my .aspx page when using vb.script

Using c#.net/asp.net 2005.
I am trying to use vbscript if statement in the .aspx page of my page when I'm using c# for the code-behind file.  I'm new to csharp and wondering are you allowed to use vbscript (not vb.net) in the .aspx page?
