implementing a friend page (life facebook)

hi
i have been given a task of creating a social website (like faceboo) - now im at the stage where i need the users to be able to addfriends so they can share information with each other:
at the moment i have structure th tavle like this
table friends:
userID = the person navigating
friendID= person userID just added
but i remembered that this would have a lot of redundant data - as if user A has 100 friends then iserID would hold the id of user A 100 times


is the another way to do this
