There was a merge replication built for pocket pc on SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition and it worked well. Later SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition was installed by other person as a new instance and replication stopped working. When user tried
to create new publisher the strange error message displayed: "Cannot find specified file. The agent is not running". SQL Server agent was running. I tried to repair sql server 2008 but it did not help. Later I uninstalled both instances, reinstalled
only SQL Server 2008 and replication works again. It seems to me that R2 corrupted some replication file. If you have any idea how to protect existing replication from new sql server instances please tell me.
