VWD 2008 Express. Visual Basic.
I am populating a dropdownlist using a SQLDataSource whose query includes a field called "FullName" which is defined as "FirstName + ' ' + Middle + ' ' + LastName" where FirstName, Middle, and LastName are columns (fields) in the underlying table. Whenever Middle is NULL this expression returns a NULL for the entire expression. I would expect for instance if the firstname was Bob, the middle NULL, and the lastname was JOnes that it would return "Bob Jones" or "Bob Jones" Instead it returns NULL. Why would the expression return NULL every time Middle is NULL? How can I prevent this? Thanks for the help.
