user not being seen as authenticated.

i have used the standard login control with forms authentication.

i know it works as i have a login view that displays info when im logged in.

the problem is when i use this code:

if (this.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated == true)

 

The user.isAuthenitcated value is ALWAYS false, even after i log in. I have this code in teh page load method.
Also, the user name of user.identity.name is an empty string where it should be the value of the user name.

 

what am i doing wrong here?
