Custom Trace Listner or Custom Provider?

I�m trying to develop custom logging mechanism for our
application. ( We don�t want to use MS logging blocks or log4net). We want to
log to SQL server 2005.  When I start developing
I found I have two choices

have custom trace listener which will write to SQL server.

Or I can I have custom provider (derived from
