When using encryption in server side, Does Password sent as PLAIN text or as encrypted password???

Hi,
I used a hash algorithm with salt to encrypt password and then it saved in SQL data base. From login page, it calls hash function to convert input password to hash to verify with hashed password storied in sql database, my questions: Does the password that input by user will be sent as plain text to server then convert to hash to verified or it hashed in client?? if it sent as plain text to server how can I make it hashed in client side?????
