I am new to ASP dot net and Sharepoint, but I am nearing completion of a application that will be linked from my companies intranet (which is obviously using Sharepoint). I want to set it up such that when a user accesses my application they need to do so from intranet. Their authentication from Sharepoint should carry over to my application. How can I set up my application such that is checks to see if the user is logged in from Sharepoint?
I should note that my application takes care of all of its own authorization. It just needs to know that the user is logged in (from Sharepoint) and what their username is.
User hit Sharepoint > logs in > clicks link to my application > app checks to ensure the user is logged in > confirms login and proceeds or denies and bumps the user back
