Learning ASP.Net without Visual Studio..

Hi,
 
Its been a year since I started developing web applications using ASP.Net but now I feel like I still do not know ASP.Net because I just rely on Visual Studio auto generated codes..
 
Does anyone have reading materials that I can use to learn ASP.Net without using Visual Studio.
Or learn what are the codes that Visual Studio is auto generating.
