Completely new to Web Development in general and am overwhelmed a bit trying to sort out how to go about doing this. I have a simple MVC app and I'd like to access some of the data from other locations (mobile apps, Silverlight apps, some non-.net stuff etc..) using XML.
I understand how to create return XML from an MVC app, lets say it comes from the URL /webpage/contestants/1 or something like that.
What I want to do is have that data retrieval be secure . I can do it now if I am logged in but I do not want to have to log in via a log-in form, I'd like to pass in username and password with the request. I have the methods secured by user so I can do it all as a web-page I just want to treat the URL as a service (with log-in)
