I have an asp.net 3.5 application that does not pass strict validation with the following error message:
document type does not allow element "input" here; missing one of "p", "h1", "h2", "h3", "h4", "h5", "h6", "div", "pre", "address", "fieldset", "ins", "del" start-tag
The error is due to automatic generated input tags that look like that:
<input type="hidden" name="__VIEWSTATE" id="__VIEWSTATE" value="/wEPDwUJNzk3NzI5NDA4ZGSS+IHgyAxYP0BqbYiSHueHw4OACBL5gH6bjwXPAU8S/A==" />
<input type="hidden" name="__EVENTVALIDATION" id="__EVENTVALIDATION" value="/wEWCALt3MLOCwKrwoaOBwLYzqf2CgKk8IW1CQKK7ZO4DgKyuOLUCwKLreSSBALl3o7bAv5txwHfTB6K6Z53RnP+sMsVgZLq2ClW430rlVF34aru" />
These tags are created right after the form tag and without any containing div. This is, to my understanding, the sourse of the problem.
