How to Generate a word document using open XML standard.

Does anyone know how to generate a word document using the Open XML Standard? .... will this work if the Client only has Word 97-2003 installed.

 my other alternative are using a Word Interop on the Server to generate the doc http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316384 or to construct the document as HTML and set the MIME type of the page as MSWORD so that it opens up in  Word on the Client side.
