How to design like a "pro"

Hi there guys

I'm about to start a shopping website simmilar to this: http://www.golfdiscount.com/

All I want to know is this...What is the best way to make/display the link sections for example different brands. Do I just use a gridview with database or a loop to create the list? Also the section at the bottom with top 10 sellers and New arrivals. Obviously those must be updated on a regular basis so what would be the "pro" way of doing it?

Thanks

Tiaan
