Populate a listbox using a class

I was wondering if there is some documentation on how to populate a listbox from a class. What I want to do is clean my program up because it is getting too big. I want to add classes ( should have been done from the beginning ) to populate a listbox depending on what the user chooses and also have the class react when an item in the list has been selected.
