I have created a file in my solution that I do not want people to view because it has private information. I've used MSDN articles to modify the Web.config file to prevent anyone from viewing the file.
My website works perfect on 4 different test servers. It blocks the users from viewing the file. However, when I upload to my web host, it starts failing and allows the users to see the file.
I've talked to my web host and the claim they can't make it work on their servers, and I thought it was a .Net thing, not a server thing. I've added the lines to my web.config. Does anyone know why this works on all 4 of my servers, but fails on the live server?
Have I done something wrong, or is the web server not working? I don't see why it would only fail on 1 of 5 servers.
<location path="blacklist.xml"> <system.web> <authorization> <deny users="*"/> </authorization> ...
