Date & Time Insert

I am tring to insert a date&time value to be now into a sql database upon click of an insert button.

desktopaudit_record.DateTimeofAudit = DateTime.Now;

It is returning an error on debug of "Cannot implicity convert type 'System.datetime' to 'string'

Can anyone helps with this?
