Hi there,
I'm just starting to migrate to ASP.NET 2.0 from ASP.NET 1.x and I'm intrigued by the ease of use of the Membership/Role providers but I have a question that I'm hoping someone will be able to help with.
I have a custom security model in a 1.x application that applies role based security but applies the roles on a per-object basis.  I guess the closest parallel I can draw is the use of file system permissions in NTFS whereby a user would have designated permissions such as Read, Write, Delete etc. on specific files or folders.  In my case it's to do with editing details for certain 'clients' on my site.
I've seen the Role provider in action and managed to put together a simple role-based authorisation system in minutes, which obviously I like a lot but I'm wondering if anyone's tried applying a similar model to that explained above in a Role provider or indeed whether it's feasible.  Obviously I could ...
