i am developing a website in which people can buy products
so i am little confused with the concept of maintaining database,,,
you know its just like ummm take an example of hp , you go to hp website and wants to buy a laptop
you configure your own laptop buy selected/unselecting different things and the total amounts keep on adding
and you can add different thing other than laptop also in your shopping cart, i hope you understood my concept
so how many tables i have to maintain in the database ? you anyone please explain me the concept behind this thing ?

tables will be linked ? how many tables i have to maintain ? for
products ? for shopping cart ? or there is no need to maintain database
for shopping cart ?
and when someone places an order how the customer will be linked to the product(s),
please expalin me the concept ? how all this thing works ?
