date format

hi
the format of the date on my database is dd/mm/yyyy. But it seems that mssql can only convert date that is in mm/dd/yyyy format.
is it possible to make the dd/mm/yyyy to mm/dd/yyyy or better if someone can convert it as dd-mmm-yyyy
example: 27/1/2012... it should be formatted to 27-Jan-2012
