Can't see image in firefox/safari using imageurl property

Hi,

I am trying to load an image in my webpage from a file server where all of our images will be held.I set the imageurl property on the image control to a mapped drive from my local development computer:


image1.ImageUrl ="V:\01\Images\1.bmp"


and I can see the image perfectly fine in IE.
 
However, the image does not show in Firefox or Safari.

In Firefox it is just a blank screen and in Safari it as an x where the image should be.


I am new to using resources from a directory outside my project but this is absolutely necessary. Is there any special folder settings or security issues I must go through to get my images to show?
