Hi guys,
I'm recently taking my first dive into building an intranet app (I come from a web background) and so am trying to get my head around security a bit.
Before I describe my problem, I am running vista with IIS7 and I have installed the windows authentication component set to enabled.
My application sits inside of a virtual directory called 'TestApp'. I am accessing my app via http://localhost/TestApp. I have a single page website with a login control on it. In my web.config, I have authentication mode set to Windows, and identity impersonate set to true. However, when I run the app, and try to login, it fails with "Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again." error. I have tried various permutations of the username, from USERNAME, DOMAIN\USERNAME, MACHINENAME\USERNAME, none of which work.
I'm at my wits end here - how do I get my application to recognise my own windows login?
Regards,
A.
