Should usercontrol read Query String params ?

I am trying to
build a user control that takes input from the query string and shows up some
results on Gridview. Should I read the query string "Id" in the Page and set it
up as a property of that  page which is then used by the usercontrol or is it a
good practice to have the user control read the query string "Id" and then get
the results based on the Gridview ??
