PageMethod attached with onBlur working fine. Issues during submit

Hi,

I have attached a .js call to a onBlur of a asp.net textbox. This js invokes a PageMethod that validates some data on DB and then displays the valid data range. Everything is working just fine. But I also need to trigger that pageMethod when the save button is clicked and thus force the user to correct the data before saving. In this case only the error message shows up that data is invalid but the page still continues a postback and saves the incorrect data. How do I prevent that from happening? I know a postback of the page can easily validate and resolve this but I want to do it from client side ->server method call using pageMethod.
