how to fill in a datagrid using a button

Hello All,

 I have created a search page.  There are a list of textboxes that the user can fill out to begin the search.  How do i use the "search" button to kick off the query to fill in the datagrid.  I am aware of how to do this with a dropdownlist because i can use autopostback, but i do not have an autopostback for the button tool.
