compare data and display message

I need to display a message depending on the data stored in 3 different table columns. table id column1 column2 column3 the data for columns 1-3 comes from a dropdown, status 1,status 2 and status 3. the data stored could be the same in each column. if status is status 1 ,display x message. if status is status 1 and status 2, display x message. if status is status 1, status 2 and status 3, display x message.
